Strengthening Resilience Digitally: Online Training Courses for Mental Health

Using Digital Tools to Increase Mental Resilience

Stressful life events and circumstances can place enormous strain on people's mental health. Regaining or maintaining mental health and increasing one's own resilience can be trained with targeted measures.

  • In the »APPWAG« project, we developed an online training course to promote resilience for the Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research (LIR).
  • In the »ResiBeWa« project, we are supporting the LIR in the further operation of this online training course.
  • In the »DREAM« project, we are working on a digital resilience promotion program for family caregivers.

Project »APPWAG«

Expansion of Resilience Promotion Programs Into a Platform With Target Group-Specific Health Promotion Offerings

Psychoeducational Online Training to Increase Resilience

The aim of the »APPWAG« project is to develop a psychoeducational training program designed to increase resilience. This is provided via a web platform. The training program includes individually tailored training content and information. The platform enables secure use of the program content and independent monitoring of training progress.

AI-Based Training Planning and Gamification

Users of the online training course record their resilience status and training level directly on the web platform. Artificial intelligence analyzes this data and automatically selects suitable content from the training program developed by psychology experts. The content is prepared in a playful way and presented with gamification elements. This allows users of the online training to work on their resilience independently and with motivation, based on a quality-assured training concept.

Project »ResiBeWa«

resiLIR – Operation and Maintenance

Maintenance of the Online Resilience Training Program »resiLIR« During Ongoing Operations

The aim of the project »ResiBeWa« is to further develop the online resilience training program resiLIR, which was developed in the predecessor project »APPWAG«, based on practical experience. During ongoing operation, technological, methodological, and content-related adjustments have become apparent that must be addressed specifically by the LIR to ensure successful continued operation.

High-Performance Data Management and Improved Interaction

The scalability of the web application in terms of the number of users will be improved by adapting data management and data access. The operational stability and user-friendliness of »resiLIR« will be increased by changing the methods and implementation of the training control. Based on feedback from users, the training content will be revised and new content will be added for further requirements.

Project »DREAM«

Promoting Digital Resilience for Relatives of People With Dementia

Low-Threshold Digital Support for Family Caregivers

The aim of project »DREAM« is to empower family caregivers of people with dementia to cope with stress and prevent stress-related illnesses. The goal is to create broad support for the many people affected with a digital offering that is low-threshold, customizable, and easy to use.

Needs-Based Search for Suitable Training Content

Standardized questionnaires are used to assess the current resilience status of family caregivers. Based on this, a correlation model automatically identifies the appropriate training content. This is then delivered in a playful digital learning format—targeted, motivating, and tailored to individual needs.
